To monitor your Internet data usage, Microsoft Windows 8 includes a data meter built into the operating system. Select the network connection you want to monitor and Microsoft will keep track of your data usage for you. If your company's Internet service provider charges you for bandwidth overages, this can be a useful way to keep tabs on what your upcoming bill might be -- just remember to reset the meter at the beginning of every month.
